A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life of Your Child

Here at Montessori Children's House, our toddlers and pre-primary children delight in an exciting day of discovery and learning that is tailored specifically to each child!

7:45 am to 8:30 am - School Opens

Parents help their child to get ready for school in the welcome room and place outside clothes in their child's wooden cubbie. The children are then welcomed into the classroom by their teachers.

8:45 am to 9:05 am - It's Circle time

All the children are guided to the middle room where they sit on the circular rug. The head teacher leads circle time.

The group lesson of the day, songs, finger play, flash cards, story books and French lessons keep the children captivated for about 20 minutes.

9:05 am - 10:05 am - Individual Lesson Time

We then move on to Lesson Time in the large lesson room. Each child chooses work that interests them that day.

Teachers give one-on-one lessons to individual children. Children's work could be posting objects into containers, matching pictures, using the cylinder blocks or feeding the fish.

10:05 am to 10:45 am - Snack plus Arts & Crafts

The children go back to the activity room to first have snack.

Then it is time for art and craft activities using different papers, fabrics, objects from nature etc.... During this time each child's diaper is checked (if it has not been changed already that morning)and/or practices potty training...

10:45 am to 11:45 am - Music & Outdoor Playtime

Next we move to music on the line. The children return to the middle room to do movements on the line following music. The movements are such as walking, skipping or moving like an elephant. Musical instruments such as bells, tambourines or drums are sometimes used by the children.

The children are then taken to their cubbies to get dressed to go play outside. Outside activities are swings, slides and wheel toys. If the weather does not permit we stay in this room and add more activities such as dancing.
